Summary of Programs and Invitation for Public Comments
- Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) Program (https://www.hud.gov/program_offices/public_indian_housing/ih/grants/icdbg)
The Comanche Nation Housing Authority is pleased to announce the continuation of the Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) program. This year, the housing authority will focus on rehabilitation work for eligible housing units. The planned improvements include:
– Carports and storm shelters
– Room additions
– Roofs
– Doors and garage doors
– Electrical upgrades
– HVAC upgrades
– Additional miscellaneous improvements
The CNHA will apply for up to $2 million for these projects, which aim to enhance the living conditions of our tribal members by ensuring safe and comfortable housing.
- Preservation and Reinvestment Initiative for Community Enhancement (PRICE) Program (https://www.hud.gov/program_offices/comm_planning/price)
The CNHA will submit an application for the Main program under the Preservation and Reinvestment Initiative for Community Enhancement (PRICE). This program acknowledges the crucial role of manufactured housing in providing affordable homes for over 22 million Americans. However, manufactured housing and communities (MHCs) face various challenges related to affordability, resilience, infrastructure, and maintenance. These challenges are often worsened by state titling and local zoning laws, financial pressures from landowners or investors, and extreme weather and natural disasters.
The PRICE Main funding will support low- and moderate-income homeowners with manufactured housing units and manufactured housing communities through critical investments, including:
– Repairs and infrastructure improvements
– Upgrades to increase resilience
– Services such as eviction prevention and housing counseling
– Planning activities, including those needed for transitioning to resident-managed communities
