The federal government has awarded nearly $60 million in grants to more than 90 tribal communities across the nation, including two in Southwest Oklahoma, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro announced.
The competitive grants are provided through HUD’s Indian Community Development Block grant (ICDBG) Program to support a wide variety of community development and affordable housing activities.
The Comanche Nation Housing Authority will use the new $800,000 Rehabilitation Grant to rehabilitate 34 single-family HUD assisted homes scattered on sites throughout the five-county service area.
The CNHA also received a new $400,000 Mold Remediation Grant that it will use to remediate mold in 16 homes.
